Derek Raivio Update. Gonzaga Basketball.
Posted by toejammer on January 10, 2008

Derek Raivio is currently playing in the ULEB, the Union of Eurpoean Basketball Leagues, with the Koln 99ers. D Rav is wearing number 5 and currently average 2 points per game. He has only played in 3 of their 8 games this season. I believe Raivio may have been injured for those 5 games, having lingering back injuried from last year (?) However the 99ers do play the 14th and the 22nd on January and hopefully Raivio will get more PT. His full statistics and an article about him can be found below.

The 99ers complete roster with Raivio
The Koln 99ers has completed its rsoter for its ULEB Cup comeback in the upcoming 2007-08 season by inking playmaker Derek Raivio on a one-year contract. Raivio (191, 22) just completed his four-year college career at the Gonzaga University, averaging 18 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 34 NCAA games last season. He led the entire NCAA in free throw accuracy, hitting 114 of 120 attempts (96.1%), as well as making 40.9% of his shots from downtown. Raivio helped Gonzaga to win the WCC Tournament in three consecutive seasons from 2004 to 2006. “We are lucky to have Derek, and he showed in college and in summer leagues that he is an excellent playmaker”, the 99ers sports director Stephan Baeck said. “With his quick hands and a very fast first step, he makes our offense more unpredictable.”(*)
